Every mom knows that time is one of our greatest commodities. There never seems to be enough time. Balancing family, work, school and housework can be a daunting task. Consequently, how do you find time for yourself? Here are some tips to help you get in some me time for mom.

Start by writing out your routine

The first step, in finding some me time, is to account for your time and plan. When you write out your routine and make your schedule it will help you stay on task. Make time for yourself in your daily schedule. When you start to schedule things a little more, you’ll be surprised as to how much more time you find for yourself in your day.

Keep the kids busy and on task

Make a chart for your kids to help them know what is expected of them and when it is expected. Kids do so much better with boundaries and routines. It is important for parents to be consistent and praise or reward when it is deserved. If your kids are doing their part and helping, everything will go smoothly, you are sure to find some time for yourself.

Prepare the night before/get up early

Preparing the night before will help you get everyone off to school and work on time. You won’t be rushing around looking for backpacks and shoes. Have your kids pick out their clothes the night before. Ensure you kids put their homework in their backpacks and have it by the door, closet or mud room. Pack lunches the night before. Plan what you will eat for breakfast and your morning will be much less stressful. With all of this being done the night before, you can wake up refreshed and find a little “me” time before the hustle and bustle of the day starts.

Don’t procrastinate

By delaying you may end up wasting time and even forget what you needed to do. It may weigh on your mind and you won’t enjoy your time.
