Families Can Help Take Action Against Child Hunger

April 30, 2015 by Lauren 27 Comments

Did you know that every 1 in 5 kids in America is at risk for child hunger.  Many of these children rely on their free or reduced school lunch as their only meal of the day.  As a school teacher, unfortunately, I know this to be true.   It is hard to believe that hunger is a reality here in America, but we can help change that.

Help End Child Hunger

I am honored to have teamed up with ConAgra Foods to help get the word out about their Child Hunger Ends Here campaign. For more than 20 years, ConAgra Foods and the ConAgra Foods Foundation have committed to fighting child hunger in America by donating food and investing in partnerships to find solutions that are within reach. Families can also get involved too and help make a difference in their own community!

You Can Help End Child Hunger

5 Ways You Can Take Action Against Child Hunger

    • Start a food drive.
    • Donate to your local food bank.
    • Spread the word and encourage friends and family to held end child hunger.
    • Look for specially marked ConAgra Food products and enter the 8-digit code at www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com from March-August 2015. For every code entered, ConAgra Foods will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America, up to 3 million meals!
    • Discover more about ConAgra Foods’ approach to fighting child hunger at ChildHungerEndsHere.com.

After showing the video above to my 5 year old, he wanted to get involved.  “I did not know there are kids that do not have food.  Can we help mom?”  We decided that as a family we wanted to help make a difference by making a donation to our local food bank.  We headed to the grocery store with $50 in hand to buy as many non-perishable items as possible.

B wanted to get food that he thought little kids would like.  He picked out some of his favorites, spaghetti, his favorite cereal, apple sauce, rice, gummies, and so much more.

He was so proud of our purchase and excited to drop it off at our local food bank.  We talked about how one child, one family, can help make a difference in another child’s life.

You can make a difference to help a child in need, too! Let’s work together to end child hunger!

What a great program. We donate clothing to needy families nearly every year because not everyone can afford to walk into a store to buy clothes when they need them.

I love that they’re doing this. I’ve seen these on a lot of boxes of food. I always wondered about it and now I know more. I’m always about helping. We normally donate food to the local food shelves. Anything to help someone out.

What a good deed and a great way to teach kids about giving back to those that are less fortunate. We plan to volunteer and help feed the homeless over the summer!

I like these ideas. Raising your own children’s awareness early on helps encourage your family to always help out.

very happy to see how much more awareness is being brought to this issue. Even happier that bigger companies are starting to pick up on it also.

The longer your articles I read, the more the better the
material receives. Reading it had been a joy. I will definitely get back for the specific post the way I do together with https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/essayservice.com. The language is topnotch.
Thank you for covering such interesting issues and doing this professionally.
