It is no secret that we adore PBS KIDS (I am a PBSKids Vip). Their great programing and educational apps for kids are definitely a favorite in our family. PBSKids.org is also loaded with fun and educational games and crafts featuring their lovable characters. And now that they have teamed up with Whole Foods Market they have combined forces to support healthy eating and to get kids really excited about eating right.
PEG + CAT, PBS KIDS’ newest preschool series coming October 7th, follows the adorable, spirited Peg and her sidekick Cat as they embark on adventures focused on math and problem solving. The characters in this show are adorable and your kids will learn math concepts that build onto each other from one episode to the next. B just loves it! To add more fun to the mix, PBS KIDS and Whole Foods have created fun PEG + CAT recipes and activities for your family. Peg + Cat recipes, tips, games, and activities.
We had fun creating the Peg + Cat: The Pirates’ “Great Banana” Fruit Salad Recipe and Craft Activity. First we headed to Whole Foods to pick up the yummy organic fruit for the fruit salad. B had a blast shopping and making sure we got each item on our list. We talked about the name of the fruit, the colors, and how many pieces of fruit he could count!
When we got home Hubs got busy cutting the fruit and I helped B make the treasure chests for the fruit salad. You can make your own using the directions HERE.
Now it was time to fill our treasure chests with the beautiful fruit. B counted each piece of fruit as he added it to his chest: 5 bananas, 6 strawberries, etc. He loved making this special treat and really got involved in the activity.
Lastly, it was time to enjoy our treasure! The fruit was delicious and sweet and a perfect healthy snack. I cannot wait to hear if you create this treasure chest with your little Pirate. ARRR!
