Kitchen Club Kids | End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad

March 24, 2014 by Chickie 24 Comments

Sweet Pea and I enjoy creating meals together. She helps daily with choosing her fruit and veggies and loves being able to put on her apron to help. I’m always looking for new ways to have her involved in our mealtime preparations. So when I was approached to review, “End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad” I was thrilled to find the concept behind this book. That concept being combining our favorite things: reading and cooking TOGETHER!

End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad

“End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad,” is an adorable counting story that is more or less a step by step recipe for building the perfect fruit salad. The story is told by using all of the wonderful colors in the rainbow. It’s full of rhymes and great adjectives that will leave your mouth watering. At the end of the book you will find a recipe for making a fruit salad with your tot.

Sweet Pea enjoys reading this story and has even learned some new names of fruit. Since she had to observe while I cut the fruit I grabbed her wooden fruit set so she could also be involved in the chopping. Then together we combined the yummy (real) fruit to make the perfect fruit salad.

End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad

“End of the Rainbow Fruit Salad,” is the first in the series and each book will continue to be based on preparing healthy foods. I’m personally really excited to check out the book titled, “Feed Your Senses- Homemade Bread!” We haven’t yet tackled making bread together so I can’t wait to give that a go.
I found it very impressive to find that a portion of the book sales will go to local food-based charities. Another impressive fact is this new book has already captured the literary world and is an award winner.

Ok, that is just adorable. My kids are well beyond this stage, but I have a soon-to-be 2 year old niece that would love it.

Play kitchens are the cutest. That “stand mixer” is so adorable, it makes me wish my niece was a little bit younger.

We love fruit salad and my kids are already kitchen helpers! I think this book would be perfect for my nephew, who is almost 2 and really curious about cooking with mom and dad.

My daughter has been watching me very closely in the kitchen for awhile. She used to bring me the ingredients for her fave dishes. Now she breaks into the containers when I’m not watching and makes a mes trying to “cook”.

AW! This is such a cute set and a great way to encourage cooking in the kitchen with the kiddos. My little man loves to help me and has a waffle maker that is all his for making fun shaped breakfast for the family.

What a great way to get kids interested in helping in the kitchen. I like that it is a healthy snack too and not a sugar filled treat.
