Kid Safe Email Keeps Kids Safe and Parents Worry Free

December 27, 2012 by Andrea 20 Comments

Kids email

Last year, my 10 year old son asked me for his own email address.  I set him up with an account but I still have to worry about SPAM and viruses and I am constantly reminding him that he shouldn’t click on any links, to make sure he is responding to people he actually knows and that he isn’t reading anything from people he doesn’t know.

Kid email

And then kidsemail.org came into our lives.

With a safe and easy to use email interface, your children will be able to keep in contact with parents and grandparents. With our parental controls, spam filtering, and many useful features, you can decide how much control to give your child when communicating with others online.

I signed my son up right away and was pleasantly surprised to see so many options available and set up by the parents.

  • Allow child to only receive and send emails from those in their contact list
  • Email a copy of incoming and outgoing messages to the parent
  • Remove images within emails
  • Remove links within emails
  • Only allow specific attachment types such as: images, pictures, video, mp3s, zip, pdf, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Allow a parent to approve or deny any email sent to your children via the mail queue
  • Filter out offensive words found in incoming emails
  • Spam filtering
  • Kids can modify the look and feel of their account by choosing from several fun templates
  • A simple mode for young children as well as an advance mode for slightly older kids

When my son log into Kids Safe Email, I don’t worry about what he is going to see or what he is going to accidentally open.   And as he gets older, he’ll still be able to use this same email.

And that is a load off my back!

We’re the first generation of parents who have had to worry about online safety. Thanks for the tips!

I really appreciate this idea. My daughter–who is 12–has an email account and I check it daily to make sure it’s okay.

What a fantastic idea! My 8yr old is beginning to request more online freedom and I’m sure family and close friends would love to send her email.

This is a great idea! My boys are always wanting an email account, but I am afraid to give them a traditional one.

This is a great review . Thanks so much for informing us of this . All my kids are grown but I have grand kids that I worry about online. Boys or girls it dont matter they all need to be safe especially the way the world is now a days. I dont know if I would give my child a email address till hes at least 12 yrs old. But with this it sure will help lessen the worry.

Wow! I had no idea this existed! This is SO going to be used in my household!! With a 7yr old who’s CONSTANTLY wanting to call his friends (I know, right??) to a 14yr old who relies on social media, his iPad and his laptop to communicate, I know that it’s something we need.

Thanks for the great, informative information!

Wow what a great idea!!! I wish I had known about this when my kids were younger (or wish they had had it when my kids were younger lol). I have copied this and sent it to my oldest daughter who is raising a son in today’s crazy world and when he is ready for email I know she will want to use this. Thanks so much for the review!

Take a look at http://www.mifrenz.com I wrote it for my own children as part of my research as an IT lecturer. It controls who can send emails to your children and who they can send emails to.

    Regards
    Tim
