I have just finished my first 3 weeks following the Jenny Craig program and I am happy to say that I have made some amazing progress. Not only because I have lost weight, but also because I have not given up when in the past I would have already thrown in the towel. With the help of my Jenny Craig consultant Kasie, and my desire to reach my first goal, I am half way there! Read on to learn about my journey so far.
My first week was all about getting use to the program. Having things portion controlled for me really made it easy. I did feel hungry this week, especially between lunch and dinner, so I made sure to make use of all the unlimited vegetables I needed. I also had the Jenny Craig Soupitizer with dinner to help fill me up. Learning how to volumize my meals really helped. When I stepped on the scale at the end of the week I was super excited to see that I was down 6.2 pounds!*
I was happy to see that when I got my meal plan it was not the same exact menu as last week. I like that they give you a variety of food each week so that you do not get tired of eating the same thing. This week I noticed I did not have to bulk up my food as much with vegetables. I was getting fuller faster, and that is a good thing. When I stepped on the scale I was down 1 pound.* At first I was disappointed with that number because last week I had such a big loss. But my consultant told me that the average weight loss is 1-2 pounds, and assured me that I was doing great. That really helped keep me going!
It was time for my 3rd weigh in and I sure was nervous about it. It was one of those weeks. You know the ones that seem like nothing is going right? Feeling super stressed I gave into a food craving, the night before my weigh in to boot. When I stepped on the scale at Jenny Craig, I had hoped that my slip did not hurt all of my progress so far. I was happy to see that it did not. I lost 3 pounds!*
My consultant told me not to beat myself up about my slip. Those things will happen. The important thing is to forgive myself and move on. In the past when I have tried to lose weight on my own, I might have let that one slip ruin my efforts and would give up. Knowing that I have a consultant at Jenny Craig to help me through the ups and downs has been really helpful for me.
After 3 weeks on the program I have lost 10.2 pounds and am more than half way to my 8 week goal of losing 16 pounds!! My goal for this week is to make sure I add at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.
I have really liked the food so far and I love that they offer a variety so that you are not eating the same items each week. Above is an example of what my meals for the day looks like. For breakfast I enjoyed their new Pumpkin Loaf (yay, pumpkin!) with 1/2 a serving of fruit, and 6 oz. of light yogurt. My snack between breakfast and dinner was a Jenny Craig Anytime Bar. For lunch I had a large salad with Jenny Craig Balsamic Dressing and Beef Chow Mein. My snack between lunch and dinner was 1 serving of fruit. For diner I had Salisbury Steak, potatoes, and mixed vegetables. And for dessert I had a yummy Red Velvet Cupcake.
