My little one is getting more excited each year about the holidays. It’s been fun rediscovering the magic of them through her eyes. So this Halloween I decided we would make some glowing Halloween cuties! Like most toddlers the idea of the dark is SCARY! So her room is constantly welcoming in “just one more” nightlight. So to kill two birds with one stone we decided to make our own.
Glowing Halloween Cuties
Materials:
Tissue paper- white, black, green, orange
Googly eyes- 2 sets
3 wooden spools
1 Green pipe cleaner
Black yarn
3 glass jars
Mod Podge
Sponge brush
Hot glue gun
Directions:
- First cut each the black, green and orange tissue paper sheets into squares. You don’t need many; think about 30 or less of 1/2X1/2in squares. Next cut the white tissue paper into long strips to resemble mummy bandages.
- To make each Halloween cutie cover the glass jar with the respective colored tissue paper using the mod podge. Allow to dry. Using your hot glue gun add features.
- For ours we did a pumpkin with heart shaped eyes, tear drop nose and a long crescent smile. Adding a spool for the stem and green curled pipe cleaner for the vine. The mummy was simple- just add eyes. Frankenstein has eyes, yarn mouth and eyebrows, along with two painted black spools for his bolts. He was also made upside down so we could give him black hair.
Make your own monsters, spiders, witches… We would love to see what you come up with. We ran out of time to make our witch but I would love to update this post if she gets finished before Halloween.
*If you are worried about your youngster having a glass jar you could use an empty peanut butter container. That would work wonderfully with the mod podge. You just have to be careful not to overuse the hot glue as it will distort and melt the plastic jar.
I love the idea to use old peanut utter jars for a child safe lantern. These are super cute and will make a great craft for the daycare!
What a fun idea for Halloween! I want to make a couple of these now, too 🙂
What an awesome idea!!!

One of our daughters made the pumpkin one for her Harvest Party at school last year. Maybe this year we can do the other two and then put them out each year. Fun!
This looks fun. And you can customize it so easily!
I love rustic crafts like these! This is awesome for my kids to make tomorrow!
What a cute craft. I think we have time to sneak this one in before Halloween!
These are super cute. I love the idea of using a peanut butter jar for littles.
It looks like a really good craft i idea for a family get together or something like that for even for other holidays would work too, you would just have to do a little modifying.
Aww, I love these! I definitely need to get the materials and make these with my daughter!
What an super awesome idea! I think I’m going to make these and set them out on my porch.
