Recently we reviewed the FirstBIKE balance bike, and I got to thinking about learning to ride a bike without training wheels when I was a kid. My dad held onto the bike as I started to pedal, he let go, and both of us hoped for the best. Several spills, bumps, and bruises later, I got the hang of it. When I was little that is how you got from training wheels to riding a bike on your own. Now scraped knees and hoping for the best can be left behintd thanks to Ralf Coerschulte, a German cyclist and product designer of the FirstBIKE.
FirstBike Balance Bike Review:
FirstBIKE Street is a balance bike that is designed for kids ages 22 months to 5 years. This bike has no pedals, kids use their legs to push themselves around where they need to go. Once they are more confident with the balance bike, they can lift up their legs and coast along as they balance themselves. The minimum seat height of 12 inches lets even 2 year olds keep their balance, and the height of the seat can easily be adjusted for taller kids. This makes FirstBIKE the perfect transition to pedal bikes without ever needing training wheels. The Street is ideal for urban areas with concrete, stone, or packed dirt surfaces.
When creating the FirstBIKE, there was no compromise on design and construction. At 8.6 lbs., its extremely lightweight and has a weatherproof frame that doesn’t scratch, splinter, swell or rust. The special non-slip “horse saddle” shape seat with tools-free adjustment gives maximum comfort and stability to help ensure your child does not slip when going down a hill. And its hand-controlled, rear drum SafetyStop brake provides gentle and gradual braking.
I love that B is going to have the confidence and skill that he needs to learn how to ride a bike!
FirstBIKE is the perfect training bike for developing your child’s sense of balance, motor skills, and self-confidence. Unparalleled features make learning and exercise safe and fun.
The FirstBIKE Street is $159 with free shipping and is available at FirstBIKE.us. The street comes in pink, green, red, and blue.
