Tickets and compensation were provided by Dolby Cinema at AMC . All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My family is huge fans of the Marvel Comic Universe, that is why we have been waiting anxiously for quite some time for the release of Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Well, I am excited to say it opened in theaters everywhere this weekend and we had to make sure we were there to see it! To make sure this move going experience was awesome for the entire family, we saw it at the Dolby Cinema at AMC in Town Square. This theater is our favorite place to see a film! The attention to detail that they put into the movie going experience makes it second to none, and made our family trip to see Doctor Strange perfect.
From the moment you enter the theater you notice the care and craftsmanship that has gone into the construction of this amazing venue. Gone are the dimly lit running lights and the claustrophobic hallway that leads you to your seat. The hallway has been widened and one wall has been replaced with a HD screen that took up the entire wall. A video of Doctor Strange was playing on the screen and it served to get us extra hyped for what we were about to see.
When you enter the theater itself I was immediately struck by the size of the screen. Huge, the screen encompasses your entire field of vision. Next we found our seats. The seats were so luxurious, they fully recline at the push of a button and the cushions are so soft and comfy. Additionally you can be fully reclined in your chair and if someone needs to get down the aisle there is plenty of room for him or her to do so. That is what is so impressive about this theater, the space you have is pretty awesome.
Everything is bigger, the screen, your seat, the aisles, and the sound is huge. You would expect great sound from a Dolby theater and this is some of the best I have heard. And the picture quality was equally impressive with tremendous clarity and resolution. The picture and sound in the Dolby Theater give you the feeling that you are right there when Doctor Strange is forced to traverse vistas and landscapes.
I cannot think of a better place to see a movie, and seeing Doctor Strange there made it an exceptional movie going experience. I really loved Doctor Strange, it is one of my favorite Marvel movies yet!
Doctor Strange Movie Review
Pride cometh before the fall for Doctor Steven Strange, a highly skilled, extremely arrogant neurosurgeon. He is a brilliant mind who is highly sought after for his steady hands and his photographic memory. When a tragic accident shatters his porcelain like hands, the only doctor who could put him back together is himself. Doctor Strange goes on a journey of self discovery that lands him at, Kamar-Taj, in the mountains of Nepal. There he seeks the aid and guidance of the Ancient One who quite literally opens his mind to the world of mysticism and magic. The Avengers protect the Earth from physical harm the Ancient One and her band of monks protect earth from the forces of magic and evil spirits. Doctor Strange discovers more about the world and himself than his superior mind could have ever imagined.
With source material that originates in the 1960’s Marvel studios did a brilliant job of staying true to the story of Doctor Strange while planting him firmly in the world of our current MCU. This is what makes seeing the movie in the Dolby theater at AMC so special. The Dolby Theater is the perfect setting to take in the vistas and landscapes that Doctor Strange is forced to traverse. The film is a great homage to the work of comic pioneer artists Steve Ditko, and my personal favorite Jim Steranko. Steranko is famous for injecting Op Art motifs popular in the 60’s into comics for fantastic effect. These same styles are omnipresent in this film and we loved it as we kicked back in our reclining chairs it was like traveling through space and time. The lesser known more obscure titles are rapidly becoming some of my favorite additions to the films of the Marvel Comic Universe. I think Doctor Strange is a great example of this and the Dolby theater is the best place to see it.
True to its PG-13 rating, I think this movie is perfect for kids 13+.
Doctor Strange is in Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime now!
