Celebrate Halloween Time at Disneyland

September 2, 2014 by Lauren 34 Comments

It is no secret that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  I think because October is my birthday month and because I had Halloween themed birthday parties when I was a kid.  My parents always made Halloween extra special by making ghosts to put in the trees in our front yard and by making sure I had the cutest Halloween costume around.  Now that I have kids of my own I want Halloween to be extra special for them as well.  A special Halloween tradition that I would love to start with them is a yearly trip to Halloween Time at Disneyland.  I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my favorite time of year than taking them to my favorite place, Disneyland.

During Halloween Time, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks transforms into a cheerfully spooky, family-friendly Halloween environment starting Friday, September 12 thru October, 31. Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland is transformed for the Pumpkin Festival, with hundreds of pumpkins on display, no two of them the same.  Jack Skellington takes over the Haunted Mansion making it the Haunted Mansion Holiday by mixing Halloween with Christmas, inspired by Nightmare Before Christmas.  Space Mountain turn into Space Mountain Galaxy, and so much more!   Plus Mickey Mouse and his friends dress up in adorable Halloween costumes and Disney Villains will also be making special appearances.  Talk about fun photography opportunities!

Mickey’s Halloween Party (special ticket) is a popular highlight that is 14 special nights during Halloween time.  Children and adults are invited to dress up in costumes and trick-or-treat at Disneyland Park!  Party guests get the extra benefit of being able to arrive early and play in Disneyland for three hours prior to the start of Mickey’s private bash.

Highlights of Mickey’s Halloween Party include:

  • The “Halloween Screams” fireworks spectacular, hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington (presented exclusively for guests of  Mickey’s Halloween Party)
  • “Monsters U Dance Party” at Tomorrowland Terrace, where guests can join Mike & Sulley and their fellow students of Monsters University in a fun and family-friendly frat party.“Mickey’s Costume Party” cavalcade featuring some favorite characters, performed twice nightly
  • Disney villains arriving amid thunder and lightning to transform Town Square into Villains Square, on Main Street, U.S.A.
  • The Cadaver Dans ghoul quartet, performing Halloween-themed tunes aboard a drifting graveyard-themed raft on the Rivers of America
  • An opportunity for everyone in the family to attend the park in costume.
  • Photo locations with popular Disney and Pixar Pals, and Disney Villains
  • Nearly all the Disneyland rides and attractions, plus Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
  • Parking for one standard-size vehicle is included with the purchase of Mickey’s Halloween Party tickets.
